Travis can probably brace themselves for one good backlash, and a few proper ass-kickings now that theyíve been crowned "Best Act in the World Today" at the annual Q awards in London. But such are the dangers of rock-stardom. Other awards went to next-big-thing Coldplay for "Best Album," Robbie Williams for "Best Songwriter"(is there any award in Britain he hasnít won?), and Oasis for "Best Live Act." Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher picked up their award and proclaimed, "this oneís for Robbie," just in case anyone had forgotten that those two really hate each otherís guts.
The full list of awards are as follows:
Travis "Best Act in the World Today," Coldplay "Best Album," Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers "Best Songwriters," Oasis "Best Live Act," Joe Strummer received the"Q Inspiration Award," Badly Drawn Boy "Best New Act," David Grayís Babylon "Best Single," Kelisí Caught out There "Best Video," Artful Dodger "Best Producer," The Specials received the "Q Merit Award."
