You want a piece of John Lennon?? Well, canít help you there Ö but if you pony up enough green (and briefly suspend all your reasoning abilities), you just might be able to get your hands on small cement blocks that Lennon probably never looked at, thought about, or touched. NBC has come up with a plan to auction off 150 bricks from Lennonís childhood home to help fund their movie about his teen years called ìIn His Life: The John Lennon Story.î They took the bricks from the house on Menlove Avenue, in Woolton, where his aunt Mimi raised him during the 1950ís.
Nobody knows how much money these Lennon bricks will fetch, but itís not the first time Lennon-related bricks have gone on sale. Currently, bricks from the old Beatles haunt in Liverpool, the Cavern Club, are going for $300-$500 each on the Web. The profits from NBCís auction will be split between the movie, and the current owner of Lennonís childhood home. Part of the profits will also be donated to the Strawberry Fields childrenís home. To put in your bid, go to www.nbci.com/lennon, the auction is ongoing through Dec. 4.
