Hip-hop busy man Mos Def keeps his career thorough. One half of the infamous tandem Black Star, and now solo entrepreneur is preparing to attack another musical universe. Mos Def is morphing his music into ghetto rock, prepping his band Jack Johnson. Jack Johnson will be made up of the following all star line up:
Living Colour drummer and bassist Will Calhoun and Doug Winbush, Bad Brains guitarist Dr. Know and Parliament Funkadelic keyboard guru Bernie Worrell. The band's debut project currently titled "Black Bastard," is expected next year.
Mos Def has kept his low pro extremely visible in the entertainment world as of late. He's feeling the success of his debut LP, "Black on Both Sides", which went Gold with ease thanks to his increased popularity with Black Star. In October he finished up the last leg of the Lyricist Lounge tour which funked-up cities across the nation. Spike Lee's "Bamboozled" marks Mos Def's big screen debut, and he is reading through a desk full of scripts as we speak. Necks are currently nodding back and forth to the new Mos Def track "Oh No", which features Pharoahe Monch and Nate Dogg on the newly released "Lyricist Lounge 2" album.
