Since the success of Lollapalooza, Warped Tour, and Ozzfest, music festivals have been popping up quicker than ODB's children. A new festival on the block, the Dragon Festival, will erupt February 3 at the National Orange Show Events Center, as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Linkin Park, Gza (of the Wu-Tang Clan), Taproot, Kottonmouth Kings, and more will celebrate the year of the snake hopefully solidify itself amongst the festival mainstays.
B-Real of Cypress Hill, who helped organize the festival says, "We wanted to do a little something different from the Smoke Out (tours). "We wanted something that was a little more underground and could provide a little light on these groups that don't usually get light when they play out here." B-Real, who is still avoiding rumors that he will be the next singer for Rage, will hook up with Orlando's drum n bass outfit AK1200 for an intimate set in the festival's "Jade Chamber".
Beastie Boy and Invisible Skratch Pickle DJ Mixmaster Mike will also perform along with Jungle Brothers, Beatnuts, Shuvel, Blackalicious, and the X-ecutioners. In addition to the music acts, the Dragon Festival will focus heavily on traditional Chinese New Year fare, complete with midway vendors, acrobats, and a fireworks display. Tickets for the event go on sale at Ticketmaster January 19.
