After the sadly abrupt breakup of Brainiac, a creative outlet had to be found for its remaining members, and it came in the form of Enon. Chirpy, warped, and altogether weird, the eccentricity of their former band meets a new realm of danceability. Despite its innovation, there is something strangely retro about this album, bringing elements of 60s pop to deconstructed back beats. The rumbling motion of their first single, ìRubber Car,î keeps the momentum rolling throughout the album, with jolts and traps to trick the ear. An energetic romp, still holding impact almost a year after its arrival: for fans of Brainiac, Les Savy Fav, or Turing Machine.
