Despite his defeat in the Album of the Year stakes at last week's Grammy Awards, Beck
is jumping back on his horse and getting back to business. The diminutive pop wunderkind is
set to work on a number of different projects in the coming months, including singing on
Marianne Faithfull's new album. He is also due to feature on two different tribute
records, recording Hank Williams' "I Heard That Lonesome Whistle Blow" and
"Stagger Lee" by Mississippi John Hurt. Also in the works for Mr. Hansen
is a plan to join Faithfull and Elvis Costello on stage for a tribute concert
for Harry Smith.
Beck is also going to make his acting debut in "Southlander", in which he'll play
himself 9 years in the future. The movie also features rockers Elliott Smith and
Beth Orton and is directed by Beck's buddy, Steve Hanft.
