Apparently people in Ireland love U2. Maybe because U2 are an Irish band, and their forthcoming show at Slane Castle sold 80,000 tickets in 45 minutes! The madness continues as both U2 and adoring fans want a second show to be added, which would have to change a grounded Irish law pertaining to outdoor concerts. Bono made the necessary appeals last month to the government and today Prime Minister Bertie Ahern said, " It has been clear to us for some time that the planning system is not the appropriate vehicle under which to consider applications for outdoor events."
Noel Dempsey, the Irish Environment Minister said that the changes would be a priority for the government, and they would try their "darndest" to put the paperwork through.
