From Here To Infirmary

From Here To Infirmary is the latest effort from Chicago's Alkaline Trio, who are the equivalent of the "outsider" from grade school. The mysterious class chum, who was amazingly cute, rarely came to class, and who sparked your interest so much that you needed to find out WHOM on Earth this person was. The Alkaline Trio have been turning out punk rock from for some time now, but only the indiest of rockers knew anything about them, since they were on the smaller Asian Man Recordings label. Now calling Vagrant their home, the Trio has released one of their most solid pieces of work to date, with more hooks than the Captain who fought Peter Pan. Drinking, girls, smoking cigarettes and dying - sums up the themes of these 12 highly addictive pain killers, reminiscent of Smoking Popes or Jawbreaker. "Private Eye, Stupid Kid, and Trucks and Trains" stand out as "singles" or "hits" or "fucking cool ass songs". Talk to Jessie at Vagrant to score a copy of the best rock record of the year so far, from a band who is rapidly reaching Blink 182 / Green Day status (which is a good thing).
