Wednesday Express - Bono Gets Under The Covers, Charlatans In Studio

Stars galore are congregating this summer on the soundtrack for the movie Moulin
One of the standout tracks features U2 front mullet Bono collaborating with ex-Virgin
Prunes leader Gavin Friday on a cover of T-Rex's "Children Of The
Revolution." Other luminaries featured on Music From Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge,
the official title, are David Bowie and Massive Attack reworking "Nature Boy",
and Beck doing Bowie's "Diamond Dogs", as well as tracks by
Fatboy Slim and Rufus Wainwright amongst others. The film, starring
Ewen McGregor and Nicole Kidman is out June 1st, while the soundtrack hits
shelves three and a half weeks prior on May 8.

UK baggy favorites, The Charlatans, who will forever remain in our hearts for the jam
that is 1990's "The Only One I Know" are currently working on their 7th album. The band,
unfortunately known in the States as The Charlatans UK, are changing with with the
times it seems. They state that they have decided to cease with their "church organ sound" and
are going in a more electronic direction, as well as incorporating a bit more funk. Somehow, this invokes The Chemical Brothers meets Parliament, although I don't know if that was the intent. The album is due out
in September, and a tour is sure to follow as big-lipped frontman Tim Burgess is now a
resident of Los Angeles.
