An extensive DVD rockumentary, planned to trace the meteoric rise, and leveling off, of R.E.M., has apparently been ditched due to the fact that the band are currently refusing interviews in order to avoid answering any questions about guitarist Peter Buck's recent arrest. They asked reporters to steer clear of air rage-related questions in interviews, but those pesky ambulance chasers just wouldn't comply, so no more talk-y. Buck was arrested at Heathrow two weeks ago for being drunk and disorderly on a flight to London. The documentary was due to be released later this year as a film after being screened on Britain's Channel 4.
In other R.E.M. news, the band is set to release a DVD boxed set on May 14th, which features a number of videos and some short film clips from Saturday Night Live.
