UK veteran rock act, XTC, will be releasing a 20-track collection of demos and alternative versions of songs from their 2000 album, Wasp Star (Apple Venus Volume 2) on May 22, entitled Homegrown (out on TVT). This set is in a similar vein as Homespun a demo set release that followed the band's 1999 release Apple Venus Volume 1. The new album gives hardcore fans a glimpse into the creative process of remaining original members Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding. Extensive liner notes and hand-written song notations by both Partridge and Moulding are also featured.
The 1999 release of Apple Venus Volume 1 broke a seven-year hiatus for XTC, which was for years embroiled in recording contract difficulties that prevented the release of any new music. The group, which has not toured since 1982 due to Partridge's now legendary stage fright, is working on material for an as-yet-untitled new album to be recorded next year.
