Reveal

Recorded in Vancouver, Dublin, Miami, and their hometown of Athens comes R.E.M.'s umpteenth album Reveal. The band will not do the "rock star mandatory" tour to promote the album, but will play a handful of free shows in select markets, along with television and festival appearances. The current radio single "Imitation of Life" is the album's standout track, along with the space pop opener "The Lifting" and the French lyric laced synthetic seduction "Beach Ball" as the closer. "All The Way To Reno" has itís moments but there is no rock on this album. There are tons of strings, horns, and loops but they all seem too tired and redundant for a band that has been churning out unforgettable hits since the early '80s. Maybe Michael Stipe should stop producing films and start giving his true music fans a better album to listen to.
