Okeeblow

Scapegoat Wax sounds like a motherfunking hybrid of Parliament Funkadelic and Eminem. Heavy strengths lie in the drum programming department, and Beastie Boy producing genius Mario C (Caldato Jr.) lends a gratuitous helping hand. Aisle 10 is a fun sound that Alt. Radio is missing right now, along with other upbeat funksters Star 6 and Eardrum. The sexy sounds of Freeway and Space To Share are contenders to replace Al Green or Marvin Gaye in the bedroom. Marty James proves his song writing talents throughout the 15 tracks on Okeeblow, most of which are "cruising" music, for a sunshine filled day with the sun roof wide open. Plenty of experimental and groovy facets on this debut, tossing fat beats, hip hop flavoring, and funk into the oven, creating a free form pie oí fun. Scapegoat Wax (last track) brings me back to the "all skate" at the roller rink of yesteryear and I love it.
