Symptoms Of A Leveling Spirit

The Santa Cruz quartet Good Riddance have been in the Fat Wreck Chords family for close to a decade (4 previous records) and this is their most melodic, and radio friendly record to date ("United Cigar" from For God and Country is still the best). From the moment you slip the Symptoms Of A Leveling Spirit CD into your player, the promotion wheels spin as you are hit with an enhanced EPK promoting the bandís upcoming DVD, Exposed! 1994 - 1999, which drops July 24. The hardcore politicos and animal lovers give us 14 ferocious tracks with the help of new drummer Dave Wagenschutz, formerly of Kid Dynamite and Lifetime, that fall somewhere in the melodic hardcore family of Sick of It All meets Bad Religion. "Trial Of The Century" is a strong radio companion, along with "Yesterdayís Headlines" and the slow building rocker "Pisces / Almost Home" which is by far the best track on the record. Great stuff from a sometimes underestimated band who believe in both themselves and their music. Introduce yourself to Jason Hall and cop the advance before it reaches the youth on July 10.
