Stipe Developing Show For MTV





R.E.M. frontman (and movie producer on the side), Michael Stipe, and his production partner Sandy Stern are developing a series for MTV detailing the life of a young rock star. The focus of the series will be a 22-year-old rocker, whose best friend is his label's female A&R
director, set in NYC's music scene. Most likely, crazy situations ensue. In other Stipe-production-related news, his company Single Cell has
bought the rights to author Douglas Coupland's upcoming novel entitled All Families Are Psychotic. Stipe's company Single Cell (which has produced Being John Malkovichand Velvet Goldmine)will produce the film version of the book, which details a family get-together at the space center at Cape Canaveral, prior to the first female astronaut's trip into space. Coupland's other novels include .Generation X,
Shampoo Planet
and Microserfs.
