Travelling Hickey Brings the Music Scene to the Big Screen





The HIQI (pronounced "hickey") festival is a travelling film festival that consists entirely of music films, documentaries, shorts, and videos. HIQI will have films focused on rock, hip-hop, early punk and electronica. Radioheadís Live in Dublin concert video, filmed for an MTV special, will have its theatrical U.S. premiere at the festival along with the band's video for Amnesiacís I Might Be Wrong. Other acts featured will be Eminem, Elliott Smith, Peter Tosh, and the Talking Heads.

HIQI will also premiere Word, a New York hip-hop documentary featuring Eminem, Dead Prez, Company Flow and MOP, and Try This At Home, a documentary on Olympia, Washingtonís indie-rock scene focusing on Elliott Smith, Sleater-Kinney and Quasi.

Synergy: Visions of Vibe captures the desert rave scene and features electronic music pioneers Carl Cox, Sven Vath, and Orbital. Classic films will also be brought along for the ride as The Blank Generation, a 1976 documentary on New Yorkís punk and new wave scenes we be unearthed. The film was shot at the legendary club CBGB and features performances by Talking Heads, Television, Romones, Blondie and Patti Smith.

Rockers, a 1978 film considered reggaeís A Hard Dayís Night, includes music by Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Burning Spear and Inner Circle.

Driver 23, and its sequel The Atlas Moth, both documentaries on Minnesota metal cult band Dark Horse will both be shown along with metal fav Heavy Metal Parking Lot.

Shorts will include the Dandy Warholsí The End of the World as We Knew It (which stars Scott Weiland), Monkey Vs. Robot, Secret Asian Man and Rolling Man. Clips of New Orderís Crystal and Bob Marleyís I Know a Place will also be shown.
