Wednesday Express-Toadies Never Turn To Princes;White Stripes Sign With XL

In news sure to disappoint all 5 of their fans, Dallas rock act The Toadies are
preparing to call it quits. The move was foreshadowed by bassist Lisa Umbarger's
bailing on the band's recent tour, supporting Hell Below, Stars Above.
Umbarger was believed to have been upset with Interscope over lack of tour
support. Next thing you know, Jane Jensen and Wank are going to get bent
out of shape about stuff, too.

Next big thing nominees White Stripes are raising the stakes in their world
overthrow attempt by signing with UK label XL Recordings. The label, home to Badly
Drawn Boy, The Avalanches, Basement Jaxx and others in the UK will
release the band's third album, White Blood Cells in the UK and will re-release the
band's first two releases on their US label, Sympathy For The Record Industry, De
and their self-titled debut. The Stripes are currently in the midst of a US
