Rival Schools Defeat Chicago's Metro, 1-0

Rival Schools delivered a plugged in listening party Thursday night in Chicago, as they tore through their debut album, United By Fate, in chronological order. Walter Schreifels (Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits) reinforced the fact that guitar rock still lives and breathes on this Earth, especially when performed by trained professionals like the Schools. The vigorously animated Schreifels pogo'd and hopped his way through his vivid guitar wails, and chunky chords. The fire cracking number,ìTravel By Telephoneî, sparked the anxious crowd, who were just graced by the super sweet sounding Hey Mercedes. The extremely volatile ìUsed For Glueî, and dreamlike ìUndercovers Onî were my personal favorites of the night. Rival Schools have been United By Fate, and these ears are truly thankful. www.rivalschoolsunite.com
