Shortlist Nominees Announced

Modeled after Britainís Mercury Music Prize, the Shortlist Music Prize brings the most adventurous and creative albums in contemporary music stateside. Nominees this year include Air, Gorillaz, the Beta Band, PJ Harvey, Ryan Adams, and many more, 49 in total. The nominated albums were chosen by a panel of 15 musicians and industry figures, which include Beck, Aimee Mann, Dave Grohl, ?uestlove, Macy Gray, Mos Def, Trent Reznor, Lucinda Williams, Dan the Automator, Nic Harcourt from KCRW Los Angeles, producers Ross Robinson and Steve Lillywhite, and Urb Magazine editor Raymond Roker. This distinguished panel will narrow down the long list of nominees to 10 finalists which will be announced on October 3. The award itself will be presented at a special ceremony and concert event on October 30 in Los Angeles.
