Phantom Planet Ready World Domination, Start on East Coast

Los Angeles rock outfit Phantom Planet has been blowing up the specialty airwaves as of late with the first single from their sophomore effort, The Guest entitled "California". Due out February 26th via Epic, the groupís new set sports the production talents of Mitchell Froom (Tom Waits, Crowded House, Cibo Matto, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney) and Tchad Blake (Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, and Sheryl Crow). Did I mention that you might already know the band's drummer Jason Schwartzman from his starring role as the eccentric young prep school drop-out Max Fischer in the Wes Anderson masterpiece Rushmore? Well, if you donít, you should. Schwartzman can also be seen in the film Slackers, due out this year. Phantom Planet will be hitting the East Coast this month in support of The Guest, highlighted by an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman on the 30th. Keep your eyeís and ears pealed for this band or be prepared to defend yourself against a barrage of mocking and ridicule by your peers.
