Cars Documentary "Just What I Needed," Says Ocasek

Legendary Cars frontman Ric Ocasek has announced that he will take a few months off from producing (No Doubt, Weezer) to begin work on a Cars documentary. The star will edit the film himself from the extensive footage he and the band compiled during their time together. According to Rolling Stone, Ocasek will then shop the documentary around with hopes of getting it released as soon as the end of the year. The former Cars lead vocalist will also begin work on his fifth studio album and first since 1997's Troublizing which was produced by Billy Corgan. The as-yet-untitled new album will see the New Wave pioneer going it alone this time and aiming for a more pop-friendly, easily accessible group of songs. In other Cars news, Rhino Records will release the twenty-track Complete Greatest Hits on February 19.
