Today Is My Day

The Gadjits were once a rude ska band signed to Hell Cat records by Tim Armstrong when they were still minors. Now, all grown up and with new musical influences, the band has a new label, new sound, and new resurrection for old time rock and roll. Today Is My Day is trapped in a late 70's bubble, draped with bell bottom corduroys and "good vibes." The Black Crowes and Rolling Stones come to mind throughout this good hearted record, which implements blues and country which makes for a classic American sound. Favorite tracks include "One Stones Throw From A Riot" and "All The Way." This is a real down and dirty release that packs a soulful punch, full of fuzzy guitars, jangly tamborines, and a down home hammond organ. Old school fans might not expect or accept this new sound, since they are used to listening to the old ska Gadjits, wearing checkerboard suits with backwards Kangols.
