Live: Nashville Pussy ñ Band Offers Some Great Advice!

NYC was alive and rocking last night to a southern rock delight from Atlanta, GA. Picture yourself jumping on a Harley, kicking into gear and jamming down the highway at full speed. By the third song last night, "Strutting Cock", I felt myself holding on for dear life. This band always delivers. And to all the diehards that doubted this bandís future after Corey Parks departure ñ not a chance in hell! The newest bassist, Katie, fit right in perfectly belting out those delicious heart pounding bass lines on a wonderful looking tan Rickenbacker bass. She was perfect and I hope she is permanent. The band said hello and then Ryter Suys (lead guitar) was gone into an Angus Young type frenzy. She is one of the best live guitar players in the business. She starts out in a full leather shirt and pants and by the end she is just in her bra. She got up close and personal with the fans by jumping down into the pit area while she was doing her guitar solo only to return to the stage to get a beer pored on her by lead singer Blaine Cartwright.

The band continued to roar with thunderous performances of "Go Mutherfucker Go," "Letís Ride," "High As Hell," and "All Fucked Up." A personal favorite, which was segued by an incredible introduction by Blaine, was "You Give Drugs A Bad Name." This is about those people who get so fucked up and start vomiting and need your help ñ that they end up fucking up your night because you have to take care of them. This was priceless and rocked the joint.

Blaine mentioned the band will be picked up by Artemis Records, which is pure delight. Danny Goldberg, now running Artemis, first signed the band while at Mercury, so I am glad he still believes in this lovely ensemble that can only be described at the Lunachicks meet Motorhead.

On a serious note, the band offered up a brand new song to help everyone get through these post 9/11 tough times of war and concern. It was a real heartfelt pleading to the country and for everyone to come together and hear the bandís precious words; "Keep Fucking." This tune was plain and simple and so true. Listen to this band!

At the end of the show ñ hanging with Ryter and bassist Katie made me realize how hip these cats really are and their dedication to the band and the fans.

Donít miss Nashville Pussy on tour now ñ roaring through a city near you! New album possibly in May!
