Wilco Documentary Headed For The Big Screen

I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, a documentary film on the eclecticly charged, Chicago based alt-rockers, Wilco, will be released in NYC on July 26 before it rolls out in August and September. The film, shot by award-winning photographer Sam Jones, is an intimate look into Wilcoís struggle to release its most interesting and acclaimed album to date, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. According to Variety, Cowboy Pictures and DVD production house Plexifilm have jointly acquired Jonesí film and will be responsible for its release in theaters and DVD. Cowboy co-president John Vanco said of the film, "Because of the dramatic real-life events that Sam ran across when he was shooting, the film's narrative arc, topicality, energy and mature aesthetic sense make it work, without qualification, as a great film for film fans in general - not just Wilco fans." Yankee Hotel Foxtrot hits the streets today (April 23) via Nonesuch.
