Sonic Youth Await Murray Street Release, Never-Ending World Tour

The legendary and influential noise making machine, Sonic Youth, will release their anticipated new album Murray Street on June 25. The official imprint for the disc will be DGC/Interscope, and the album title itself is taken from a location in Manhattan near the Youthís own Echo Canyon studio, where one of the engines from the planes that hit the Twin Towers landed. Sonic Youth will also re-release three ground-breaking old records, Dirty, Daydream Nation, and Goo, which will all be remastered and reissued with new liner notes and a bonus CD of new material. According to pitchforkmedia.com, Sonic Youth will perform a long-ass summer tour beginning June 14 in Sweden and wrapping up September 1 at the annual Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle. NYC fans will get to experience a free concert in Central Park on August 11, along with composer/experimentalist Wadada Leo Smith and his Golden Quartet, plus a DJ set from Monotract.
