Live - David Lee Roth Rocks Like It's 1979

Woo hoo! It was all mullets, roach clips, tight pants and flashbacks last night as the first
stop of the David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar tour kicked off in the
perfect city, the city with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland. I don't know what
Hagar played, but, does anyone really care to hear "I Can't Drive 55" or some
crap Montrose covers? We'll leave that nonsense to Mr. Cabo Wabo
when he's down in Mexico. I'm talking about reliving the glory days of Fast Times At
Ridgemont High
, videos with scantily-clad ladies and Waldo being told to
"sit down." I want to talk about DAVE! As I obviously wasn't there, I will use
the eyes and ears of my man on the scene, Dale Baker. Evidently, Dave,
decked out in tight flares and suspenders, brought the rock pretty hard. Mixing in
Van Halen tracks from throughout his tenure with the band, as well as solo hits,
the '70s heartthrob played jams like "Running With The Devil," "Ain't Talkin' Bout
Love," "Eruption" (featuring Bart from Van Halen cover band
Atomic Punks on guitar), "Ice Cream Man," "Beautiful Girls," and, for some
unknown reason, "Yankee Rose." Sadly, the Dave & Sammy tour doesn't get
close enough to the cosmopolitan center that is San Francisco, so I won't be able to
witness the scene of scores of 30 and 40-somethings trying to relive their collective
childhood and paying dearly for it the next day.

These were the songs Roth rocked:

Runnin' With the Devil

Hot For Teacher

Beautiful Girls

I'm the One

Atomic Punk

Ain't Talkin' Bout Love

You Really Got Me

Yankee Rose

Ice Cream Man

Dance the Night Away

And the Cradle Will Rock

Everybody Wants Some

Mean Streets

So This Is Love?

Little Dreamer

Pretty Woman
