Melissa Auf Der Maur is sick of doing nothing, so she's jumping back into music
with two feet. The ex-Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist has just
completed recording an album under the Auf Der Maur moniker and she definitely
got by with a little help from her friends. Joining her on this album were guest appearances
from ex-band mates James Iha of the Pumpkins and Eric Erlandson
of Hole, as well as Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme and
Nick Oliveri (and sometimes Queens collaborator Mark Lanegan).
Members of Fu Manchu and Rocket From The Crypt also make appearances,
as well as many other rock and rollers. No release date or label info to report as of yet.
Chartattack.com also reports that Melissa has a another project in the works, this
one a Black Sabbath cover band by the name of Hand of Doom. The band
has played many gigs in LA and has even recorded a live album, with Melissa on
vocals. She does all the Ozzy vocals, but when her band covers a track that
Ronnie James Dio sings on, they require a guest vocalist. Oliveri did the vocals
in LA and Iha guested in NYC. If they come to your town, maybe you'll get to jump
up on stage and do your rendition of the midget metaller's distinctive yelp.
