The Roots to Feel the Bumps on Your Head in October

The band that re-energized hip-hop a few years back by actually playing their own instruments, and very well at that, will now drop their forthcoming, sixth album in October. The album, entitled Phrenology, was originally scheduled for a June release, but was pushed back due the bandís rigorous work schedule, including acting as the backing band for Jay-Z on MTV Unplugged, and playing guest spots with Talib Kweli, Mystic, and Rawkus, not to mention keeping up their extensive live schedule. According to MTV, the first single from the album is entitled "Break You Off" and it will feature the soulful vocal stylings of DíAngelo. Also appearing on the album are Jill Scott, Black Thought, and Canadian songbird Nelly Furtado. Catch The Roots on tour this summer as part of the Smokiní Grooves tour with Lauryn Hill and Outkast.
