The Who Recruit New Bassist for Tour: He Starts Tonight

Legendary rockers The Who suffered a devastating blow on June 27th when founding member and bassist John Entwistle died of an apparent heart attack in Las Vegas, only a day before the band were to embark on a huge summer tour. After his death the two surviving members, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend, vowed to continue the tour, Daltrey making it a memorial to his departed friend and Townshend choosing to continue out of obligation to fans, promoters, staff, etc. For whatever reason, the show will go on, and to do so they have signed up veteran bassist Pino Palladino, who has worked with the likes of Eric Clapton, DíAngelo, and Melissa Etheridge, to fill the large void left by the Ox. The Whoís 27-date tour kicks off tonight at the Hollywood Bowl.
