In "what the hell is this guy thinking news," Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer was quoted as saying, "Hitler went to heaven" in an interview with Metal Hammer magazine. Now, Iím not a biblical or religious scholar, but I think itís pretty safe to say that of all the people who have ever lived in the history of mankind, Hitler would be one of the last in line to walk through the pearly gates. Munky rationalized his statement by saying, "[Hitler] felt that what he did was right, and I think that if what you feel youíre doing is right, in your heart, they you canít be wrong!" Was he high? The absolute absurdity of that statement is almost incomprehensible. That means that in his eyes, murderers, rapists, thieves and even the fucking 9/11 hijackers are all chilliní with the man upstairs, relaxing on a puffy cloud and plucking harp strings. James "Iím an idiot" Shaffer did make some logical statements in the interview though, when he apologized to the world for Fred Durst, as Korn helped break the Bizkit. He said, "Yea sorry about that. I mean, Fred Durst knocked on our bus door in Jacksonville like, ëHey man, listen to my tape,í so itís our fault."
According to Launch.com, Munky has since apologized for his Hitler comments, saying "I want to make it clear that in no way, shape, or form do I approve of Hitlerís atrocitiesÖ I apologize to anyone who was offended by my comments, which read confusingly in Metal Hammer." Munky is now banned from opening his mouth in public indefinitely by fellow Korn members and everyone who has business or personal ties to the axe-man.
