Local H Starts New Trend: Auctioning Off Concerts

In a unique marketing and money-making scheme, Chicago's Local H is auctioning off a concert on eBay. The show will be shaped into whatever mold the winner wants it: the highest bidder gets to choose the where, when and who's invited aspect of the show, even down to whether or not the gig will be plugged in or acoustic. The band and management will even help with the set-up, layout, etc. There's only one catch: the winner can't have anything to do with the music industry. The band wants this to be a fans-only contest. The bidding started July 17 at $500 and at the time of writing this had skyrocketed to $4400 with bidding to cease on July 26. Maybe the Nirvana-esque duo is on to something here and will start a new brand of fan interaction. As Asia once oh-so profoundly put it, "only time will tell."
