Gene Set to Invade the US This Summer

One of the UKís most prolific live acts, Gene, have signed a deal with iMUSIC/ARTISTdirect/BMG to release their critically acclaimed fifth album, Libertine, in the US on August 6. The album, which was previously only available as a UK import on the bandís own Contra label, will feature the heavily bootlegged song ìLet Me Move Onî as the first official single. The song will only be available on US copies of the album. A full US tour is also scheduled to launch on September 2 at Seattle, Washingtonís Bumbershoot Festival. Though only three other shows are currently confirmed, all in California (SF, LA, Pomona), the band plan on hitting Toronto, Chicago, Detroit, Boston, New York & Philadelphia, and more, before heading home for a show at The Astoria in London on September 28.

Gene has also launched a brand new website, . In addition to a free downloadable mp3 of ìLet Me Move On,î which is a brand new, previously unavailable recording, the site also features a ìGene Rarities Forum.î This is an exclusive email service that will deliver, via email, access to download and preview Gene rarities. According to a spokesperson for the band, these rarities will include privately filmed concerts, never-before-released demo recordings, and live concert recordings from the bandís personal collection.
