San Franciscoís Ladyfest Kicks Off Today

Bratmobile frontwoman Allison Wolfe got the Ladyfest ball rolling in Olympia, WA, two years ago, and since, women in cities throughout the world have followed her lead. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, since 2000, Ladyfests have popped up in Chicago, Philadelphia, Amsterdam, Glasgow and now San Francisco. Today kicks off the Bay Areaís five-day ìarts and activismî extravaganza that features an international film festival, spoken word, visual and performance arts, and an eclectic mix of workshops and panels for chicks (oops, I mean ladies) to watch, listen and attend. Most importantly to us, however, is the fact that the ìextravaganzaî will also include some kick ass rock shows, notably Bratmobile, Medusa, The Gossip, and Drew Goldbergís favorite pin up girls, The Donnas. Go here for a complete Ladyfest itinerary.

Shows to catch:

07.25.02 ñ Medusa (Brava! For Women in the Arts)

07.26.02 ñ Bratmobile (Mission High Auditorium)

07.27.02 ñ the Donnas/the Gossip (Mission High Auditorium)
