Spoon Set The Table For September Album Release, Tour

Spoon will release the follow up to 2001's Girls Can Tell, titled Kill The Moonlight via Merge Records on August 20. To help celebrate the release, the boys from Texas will greet fans on the East Coast for a month-long tour in September. Daniel and Jim Eno, along with Mike McCarthy (Trail of Dead), produced the new album, the same way (if not better) than the effort that the put into Girls Can Tell. Singer Britt Daniel recently wrapped up a stint of solo shows, and will release a split CD EP with the pretentious and over-hyped Conor from Bright Eyes this month on the Texas label Post-Parlo Records. Both artists knocked out two brand new songs for the EP, which was recorded in Conor's house in Omaha in April, presumably while his mom baked cookies and showed baby pictures of her lil' man in the family room. Spoon's tour, with support on various dates from Barsuk's John Vanderslice and The Natural History, starts September 6 in Austin.
