Guided By Voices, The Shins, Butthole Surfers Put On Scrubs

Scrubs, the runaway smash sitcom on NBC that parodies the peacock channel's mainstay giant ER, will release an album on September 24 on Hollywood Records. An album you ask? Yes, an album, from a primetime sitcom. Guided By Voices, The Shins, Butthole Surfers, The Eels, Colin Hay, and others will appear on the record, which will actually spit out a single, courtesy of Laslo Bane. The Boston-based band who gained marginal success in 1999 with their cover of Men At Work's "Overkill" will relinquish "Superman" as the soundtrack's first single. Oddly enough, Colin Hay (MAW lead singer) appeared on that cover track and contributes many songs on this album, including "Overkill," which he will perform acoustically on the September 26 episode. A soundtrack for a sitcom...why didn't Gary Coleman ever think of that?
