Badly Drawn Boy and His Hat Prepare to Feed The Fish

The king of the omnipresent stripy wool hat, Badly Drawn Boy, is set to issue his second full-length release in the UK this fall. Fresh off the heels of his About A Boy soundtrack (which I'm arbitrarily not counting as a proper full-length) comes news that the man born Damon Gough will drop Haven't Fed The Fish in October. The album will be preceded by the single "You Were Right," which according to worldpop.com name checks musicians from Kurt Cobain and Jeff Buckley to John Lennon and Frank Sinatra. Even the Material Girl makes a lyrical appearance, with the behatted one stating, " I'm turning Madonna down and calling it my best move." Over 35 songs were written for the album, but it was whittled down to 15 tracks for the final version. Gough described the album as more like About A Boy than his Mercury Music Prize winning Hour of the Bewilderbeast. "After doing the recent soundtrack for the film About A Boy, I really focused on what I wanted to say with this record." No domestic release information has presented itself as of yet, but we will wait and see whether this album makes itself available on our shores.
