House of 1000 Corpses, the gruesomely tantalizing horror flick conceived by Rob Zombie, has been picked up by Lions Gate Films and will supposedly shock the shit out of people everywhere in early 2003. Cnn.com reports that the film revolves around a couple who wander into a nearby town inhabited by freaks and killers, looking for help after their car breaks down. Pretty simple premise right? Apparently Universal was supposed to release it in 2001, but it was so disgusting and violent, that they passed, as did MGM recently. Zombie, who recently helmed the Ramones tribute album, wrote and directed this ?in-your-face, unrelenting horror film experience," according to Tom Ortenberg, president of Lions Gate Films Releasing. Zombie has directed numerous videos in the past, and flexed his muscle for animation in 1996, during a hallucinatory montage in Beavis & Butt-head Do America. Lions Gate purchased the unrated and R version of the film. Both will see the light of day, with the R version hitting theaters, and the unrated on the DVD aisles of your friendly home video store.
