Live - "The Magnificent Session" at The Shelter

Last night in NYC was the Jazzy Jeff record release party at the Shelter club. Going into the night I had a feeling it was going to be a fresh night. With a DJ line-up consisting of Jazzy Jeff, ?uestlove, Vikter Duplaix, Rich Medina and Dr. Sean Diaz, it was hard not to feel that way.

Well, all I can say is Jazzy Jeff and ?quest tore it down. They did a tag team set, which was straight bonkers. If you have ever been to the Shelter then you know its straight dancing and no wall flower-ism. Man, these two went straight for the jugular on this one; they played everything under the sun, from hip-hop to house to funk to rock.

But the highlight of the night had to have been when ?uest tagged in and dropped Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" The place nearly lost its mind. Everyone just went crazy, jumping around. I felt like I was back at a college house party and the floor was going to cave in. It was so intense and great at the same time.

Last night was just a small indication of how NYC nightlife is on the way back stronger then ever.
