Idlewild Kick Bassist To The Curb

The band has just released their most successful album so far, are getting ready for a tour of England with Coldplay and are set to release the album here in the US next April. So, what's next for Idlewild? How about partial band implosion? Longtime bass player Bob Fairfoull (as we head into the magical October playoff season, one question comes to mind: is that the perfect name for an umpire, or what?) has left the band during their tour of Europe.

A prepared statement to the NME reads,

"The band will continue with their current dates and commitments until the end of the year with their guitar technician Alex Grant playing bass. Alex has worked with the band for more than two years and previously played bass in other bands." Rumors have it that a fight amongst band members the night earlier in Amsterdam was the cause for the severing of a musical limb. A permanent bass player is expected to be named soon, as the band heads out on a tour of Australia and the US in the coming months.
