System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian, with a little help from Columbia Records, is taking his Serjical Strike label into the mainstream. According to MTV, Columbia has granted Tankian an imprint and will release new Serjical Strike albums beginning next year. First on tap are albums by metal band Bad Acid Trip and art-goth trio Kittens For Christian, both to be released next spring. A third release, by Brit-pop-esque Slow Motion Reign will hit the streets next summer. Serj plans on releasing five albums a year on Serjical Strike and will continue to sign bands based on inspiration rather than perceived mainstream appeal.
System Of A Down will release a new LP later this fall, but no further information is available at this time.
