The shoegazing revival is NOW. Quintessential washy-guitar mavens Ride will have their greatest hits compilation OX4 released in the US. The album, named after the postal code in their hometown of Oxford, England, hit shelves last year in the UK, but will have four bonus tracks for US fans. The hits package is culled from the band's four full length albums on Creation in the UK and Sire in the States, as well as the EPs the band released before their debut full player, 1990's Nowhere. Jams such as "Leave Them All Behind," "Vapour Trail," and "Twisterella" can all be found on the 15-track album, which November 5 on The First Time Records.
The four-track bonus CD is pilfered from Firing Blanks, the rarities CD included in the band's 3CD boxset also released last year. Label head Gagan Palrecha told billboard.com that although ex-Ride guitarist Andy Bell is quite busy playing bass in Oasis that a reunion is not necessarily totally unlikely. "The band were actually asked by Radiohead to be openers but they declined," he stated. "However, I've been told that it's not impossible." Now that's news that's fit to print.
