Know any unsigned bands? In one yourself? Diesel-U-Music may be the place that all your dreams start. Diesel-U-Music takes the Farmclub idea and advances it further: starting this week, unsigned American acts can upload their music for the chance to win recording contracts, equipment, tour support and best of all, limelight aplenty. Winners will also be flown off to perform live on stage at a big Diesel-U-Music party, held in New York City in May of next year, sharing the stage with major, but still secret, players in the underground music scene. Although this is the debut of the event in the States, the project has been running for over two years in the UK and in Italy.
Finalists in each of the five categories, Electronica (Trance, Breakbeats, Techno), Urban (Hip Hop, Scratch, R&B), Dance (House, Drum & Bass), Rock (Indie, Garage-Rock, Emo), Cutting Edge (Electro/Synth, Down-tempo, Progressive Rock), will zip off to NYC to show off their wares live in front of the judges of Diesel-U-Music and their partners, for Diesel-U-Music has partnered with a different record label for each genre, and on board for the project are Kinetic, Counterflow, Om, Arena Rock and Emperor Norton, as well as a number of magazine sponsors, including our own Fader magazine. Turntable and mixer firm Vestax is also, as they say, in the mix. Be sure to check out the www.diesel-u-music.com
