After years of dawning disguises, toying with a number of alter-egos, and somewhat staying out of the limelight, Dan The Automator will finally release a studio LP under his own name. MTV reports that the masterful producer is currently recording a full-length solo record as the Automator, with expectations to see it street in March or April. The new project will not be as much of a concept album as some of his past releases (Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030, Gorillaz), but it will definitely feature some of the Automator's talented, music industry friends. However, just exactly who will be showing up will remain top secret information for the time being, with the Automator saying, "I want to keep it a surprise."
A tour in support of the as-yet-untitled release is already being discussed as well. The Automator says a full band will be recruited to back him up, including "guitar, bass, probably a drummer and girl singer, guy singer, rapper."
The producer extraordinaire hopes to be part of a few more releases next year, including Beck's next album, which he has been collaborating on for some time, a new Handsome Boy Modeling School album, and possibly even a Gorillaz record.
