Just when you thought HBO was king shit of television, they go and do something to mess it all up. The masters of the cable universe have ordered twenty episodes of a new late night talk show starring Bill Maher. Variety tells us that the show will fill the Friday 11:30 p.m. slot, which was vacated by Dennis ìcha cha cha babeî Miller earlier this year. The Los Angeles based ìcomedyî hour is scheduled to hit the airwaves on February 21. After the cancellation of the long running Politically Incorrect (on ABC and Comedy Central), Maher released his latest book When You Ride Alone You Ride With Bin Laden: What the Government Should Be Telling Us to Help Fight the War on Terrorism.
Nancy Gellar, HBO's senior VP of original programming, says "Bill is at the top of his game right now. He's really got a lot of terrific stuff to say, and it's a good time for him to say it. We're interested in his opinion and his comedy and his tone. We're fans." This woman is obviously a bigger crackhead than Rick James.
