New Orleans-based retro-funk revivalists Galactic have announced their Freezestyle 2003 winter tour dates. The band’s extensive winter trek will kick off on January 23 at their favorite home-town venue, Tipitina’s, and will continue across the South, Midwest, and briefly as far West as Colorado before returning home for Mardi Gras. The genre-blending outfit has a well-established live following and are famous for their hard-working, funktified, marathon shows in the vein of James Brown or George Clinton, but with an old-school, Crescent City jazz-infused vibe. In fact, they could easily be the long-lost white-boy sons of New Orleans funk legends, The Meters, with whom their sound can be most closely compared.

Galactic’s Mardi Gras shows have become a must for any funk music fan. The band rule the city of New Orleans and nothing can rival the love and support this 6-piece receives from its hometown fans. In fact, Galactic’s most recent release is a live album recorded at Tipitina’s called We Love Em Tonight: Live At Tipitina’s. Check out the tour details below.
