It was about 2:00 AM when Q and DJ Odeed, aka Uberzone, took the stage in front of a packed house at The Roxy in NYC. The vibe was definitely one of anticipation and excitement as Uberzone rarely makes an NYC appearance, so when they do word spreads like wildfire and the NYC underground gets amped. The crowd erupted when they took the stage and didn't let up until their set ended about an hour later.
Uberzone dropped their signature sound of nu-breaks and tore through tracks from their debut album Faith In The Future, as well as what seemed to be some new tracks. The one thing that stuck out the most from their performance had to of been Q tearing through track after track on his drum pads. This guy can really rock out and keep the attention of any crowd - even in a city where break beats aren't the most popular sound. Their transitions were smooth as hell and their programming was intense, taking the crowd on a journey through the nu-skool sound they're so very well known for. I'd seriously suggest checking them out when and if they hit your city. Otherwise, pick up a copy of Faith In The Future or their new release, The Digital Mix, to get a lesson in the sound of Uberzone's nu-breaks.
