Rock veterans Metallica have teamed up with a younger, more annoying generation of metal bands for their forthcoming Summer Sanitarium tour. For the trek, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit will have the honor of sharing the stage with Metallica, with all three bands performing "headlining-length" sets. According to Billboard, the Deftones and Mudvayne will also be on-board for the angry, hard rock roller coaster. An official tour itinerary has yet to be released, but a post on Metallica's official website has these cities listed as stops: Minneapolis, St. Louis, Orlando, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Columbus, OH, Montreal, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Toronto, Washington /Baltimore, and Chicago.
All three headlining bands have new albums on the way. Metallica will drop their latest effort, St. Anger, on June 10 via Elektra. Limp Bizkit, still without a proper replacement for departed axe-man Wes Borland, will release Lessismore on Flip/Interscope in May and Linkin Park's much-anticipated second album Meteora will street March 25 from Warner Bros. Stay tuned for more details.
