Martin Gore, the brains behind rock veterans Depeche Mode, will release the follow-up to 1989's Counterfeit EP on April 29 by way of Mute/Reprise. The new release will be titled Counterfeit2, and will feature 11 cover songs by such artists as Lou Reed, John Lennon, and Iggy Pop. According to Billboard, the album's first single will be a cover of David Essex's "Stardust." Martin chose the tracks on Counterfeit2 because they are close to his heart. He said, "Without some of the artists I've covered here, I wouldn't be writing the way I do. They have all affected me at some point, especially when I was younger."
Gore's main project, Depeche Mode, has plans to release a DVD version of the home video 101, which was originally released in 1989 on VHS.
