
Movie buffs everywhere were on pins and needles this morning as the nominees for the 75th annual Academy Awards were announced. There were few surprises, as Chicago pulled down 13 nods, including Best Picture, Best Actress (Renee Zellweger), Best Supporting Actress (for Ms. Wedding Trauma herself, Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Best Direction (Rob Marshall), The Gangs Of New York garnered 10 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Daniel Day-Lewis) and Best Direction (Martin Scorsese) and the Virginia Woolf piece, The Hours roped in nine opportunities to win the Oscar, including the categories of Best Picture, Best Actress (Nicole Kidman), Best Supporting Actor (Ed Harris), Best Supporting Actress (Julianne Moore) and Best Direction (Steven Daldry). In the Best Song category, Eminem is up for his first Academy Award and will be battling U2 and Paul Simon for the award. The event will be emceed by Steve Martin and held on March 23 in Los Angeles at the Kodak Theater. Look below for the full list of nominees:
