Former Replacements frontman Paul Westerberg has been holed up in the studio working on the follow-up to last year's Mono/Stereo double disc release. So far, the legend has recorded a number of both covers and original songs, running the gamut of musical styles. A statement posted by Vagrant Pres Rich Egan on the label's official website reads, "He just recorded about a dozen covers which range from The Kinks to Jackson Browne. So, yeah, the covers record has come up... but we shall see. As for the new stuff, there are about 40 songs, all of different tones and textures, what eventually ends up on the record is yet to be determined. And it all rules." The as-yet-untitled new release is scheduled to street in August. We'll keep you posted as more details arise.
